It 's a great pity that no one appears to have addressed the matter of DLA, AA & CA at the meeting that took place recently in the Ambassadors offices in Madrid recently.

This is particularly with regard to the following remark by Caroline Flint, “It's important that people get access to the benefits they're entitled to in Spain as well as from the UK."

This sort of comment is typical of politicians, since it is a most empty statement for Caroline Flint to have made and it appears to have gone unchallenged.   Especially when addressing the difficulties encountered by the likes of Ann Hamilton-King of El Campello, who is expected to feed herself and keep herself warm on just 35 euros a week!! She now has a mobile oxygen condenser for her condition and the British Expats Association has arranged a home visits by the Royal British Legion.

The UK government is loud on words about advising citizens to save for their old age, but very quiet about their crass failure to encourage them to make such provisions by, for example, not taxing pensions where citizens scrimp and save during their working lives, since historically our Chancellors have only seen peoples hard earned pensions as something further to tax.

Now that the exportability exclusion has been lifted, the Department of Work & Pensions have done absolutely nothing to comply with the ruling of the ECJ of 18 October 2007 and continues to prevaricate over this matter.   In this respect the British Expats Association are about to go back for the second time to the EU Commission for Employment and Social Affairs and request the opening of 'Infringement' against the UK government.

The refusal by the UK government to re-instate the lawful DLA, CA & AA benefits IS NOTHING SHORT OF DISGRACEFUL.
